Safety
- All boats used in marathon racing must be fitted with sufficient buoyancy to support the boat and crew in the event of a capsize. Inherent buoyancy in composite boats is not sufficient to meet this requirement. Additional foam buoyancy or air bags must be fitted. Random checks may be carried out on the day – boats with inadequate buoyancy will not be allowed to race.
- Racing will be conducted in accordance with the Marathon Racing Rules of Competition as published on the Paddle Scotland website. In addition, all paddlers must wear an approved buoyancy aid (compliant with EN393, EN395, ISO12402-5 or ISO12402-6)
- Organised safety cover will be provided for all courses in the form of 2 safety ribs, and safety kayaks.
All participants are advised to wash their hands before consuming drink and food after racing. There will be welfare facilities on site.

Courses
All courses will head South from the start line just in front of the field next to the caravan park.
Always be closest to the right-hand bank, and allow other boats to pass you on your left.
All turns are anti-clockwise. Take care to avoid shallow edges of the Loch and allow ample space for turning.
The water can become turbulent in high winds and all courses are subject to change if necessary to take account of conditions experienced on the day.
Spray decks are recommended in windy conditions.Downloads
